SARAN: Samajwadi Party president and former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav on Saturday joined the Congress’ ‘Voter Adhikar Yatra’ in Bihar’s Saran district, signaling growing opposition unity ahead of crucial elections.
Congress general secretary K.C. Venugopal confirmed Yadav’s participation through a post on X, calling him a “steadfast ally” in the party’s efforts to safeguard democracy.
“This morning, former UP CM Akhilesh Yadav Jee joined the Voter Adhikar Yatra in Saran. Welcomed him to this historic movement to protect democracy. He has been a steadfast ally in our fight against the BJP’s destruction of our democracy, and a strong voice for the poor and underprivileged in UP and across the country,” Venugopal wrote.
The ‘Voter Adhikar Yatra’ is part of the Congress’ campaign to mobilize support across Bihar, highlighting concerns over democratic rights and governance. Yadav’s presence is seen as a significant boost to the initiative and a sign of coordination among opposition parties.
With opposition leaders increasingly rallying together, the yatra underscores efforts to present a united front against the ruling BJP at both state and national levels.
